Running a Laundromat can sometimes be a complex business with regards to machine maintenance, services offered, such as wash-dry and fold, and collecting money. Laundromats are essentially a place where customers can rent utilities.

When you really think about it, the customer is taking advantage of the Laundromat’s ability to provide them water, electric and/or gas, etc., in order to wash their garments. There is just so much money a Laundromat can charge their clients to wash and to dry in order to maintain their competitive edge. Most Laundromats have local competition so pricing their products is a key to maintaining a solid customer base. Since they are providing utilities to their customers it is very important that careful consideration is given to the machinery that is being used. The more energy efficient the machinery, the more money can be saved on the electric, water, and gas bills.

Here is some helpful advice on how to save money for your Laundromat.

Cleaning your lint screens on the dryers several times a day will help increase the airflow of the machine and provide your customers a more efficient and quicker dry. Cleaning lint filters frequently will also prevent dryer fires.

It is important to clean the screens found on the back of the washing machines where the hot and cold water lines get connected. Sometimes debris comes into the water lines from the street and this debris can actually clog up the water lines entering the machine causing long fill times for your customers which in turn can cause large delays with customers looking to use the washers. Periodic cleaning of these screens will enable more efficient usage of the machinery.

Newer model dryers have a function that can be purchased called Residual Moisture Control. This feature allows the dryer to turn off automatically once the clothes are dry. Needless to say, this would be a huge benefit to the laundry owner as it will reduce the gas bill.
