Define Eco-Friendly Washers and Dryers

When manufacturers first began making “eco-friendly” machines, attributes such as water usage, drum capacity, electrical requirements were sacrificed in the desire to increase efficiency.

As the world becomes more familiar with the term “green”, the interest in eco-friendly machinery has risen. Manufacturers are responding to this demand for the benefit of their dealers and laundry operators.

Not all new technologies do what they say they do. In this article, Laundrydealer.com would like to debunk some these myths.

1. Ability to wash without water.

OEM's nowadays have created controls within their washers that can limit how much water is being used in each cycle. Yes, it is possible to eliminate rinses in a wash cycle and depending on the application it might be worth your doing so. However, at the end of the day there is only so much water one can eliminate in a wash cycle in order to complete the task properly, which is cleaning the garments.

2. Utility savings is all you get with an eco-friendly machine.

Fuel economy may be the most easily recognized benefit of an eco-friendly machine, but manufacturers are making sure their machines are packed with other features as well. For instance, some manufacturers are offering their own styles of Eco Power. Eco Power will actually save the laundries on gas because the dryers lessen their gas usage when the linens are dry.

3. Eco-Friendly affects the overall look of the machine.

The features that are built into these washers and dryers do not affect the way these machines look. The decor of these machines remains just as attractive with these "eco-friendly" features. As more features get added in the near future, no need to worry about the overall aesthetics of these machines as the technology exists on the inside and not the outside of the machine.

4. Eco-Friendly machines are not affordable.

When first introduced, eco-friendly machines were a rare breed and therefore manufacturers could charge higher prices. Due to supply constraints, consumers were willing to pay a premium for these machines. However, we have come a long way in just a few short years and advances in eco-friendly technology, and increases in production have helped to drive the prices of "green" machines down.
